Eight British delicacies that the rest of the world just doesn’t understand

You can easily divide the world up into their culinary traits, with British cuisine, of course, arguably the most iconic.

Well, it is to us anyway. Apparently not everyone eats spaghetti hoops on toast and chip butties but we don’t care, because they’re the ones missing out! 

Fish Fingers, Beans & Smiley Faces

And they say there’s no such thing as British Cuisine. This is a God-tier tea from back when you were a kid (and now).

Either smiley faces or potato waffles are acceptable here. Or have both and an extra sprinkling of dinosaur shaped turkey nuggets for a real Friday night treat.

Pizza and Ketchup

Ketchup goes with everything, even beans – and especially with pizza. Nothing like dunking your crusts in a bit of Heinz. This girl even had it for breakfast and really, can we blame her?

Spaghetti Hoops on Toast

Or beans for that matter. People think we’re pretty weird for putting pasta coated in tomato sauce on a piece of Lurpak-induced-coma-bread. This person is not messing with the extra cheese either. 

Tea & Biscuits

Name a more iconic duo, I’ll wait. Look at this fancy pants with their fine china and KitKat. You go glen coco.

Beans on Cheese on Toast 

This person knows how to lockdown with a proper culinary delight. The highlight of your day will be this meal. Guaranteed to cure sadness, hangovers and anything else for that matter (probably). 

Jelly & Ice Cream

You know you’ll be talking about the bouncy castle party in the playground on Monday if the dessert involved a combo of jelly and ice cream.

Ham & Crisp Butty

Even better if there’s a bit of cheese on that bad boy. It’s never something you aim to make, you just sort of have a sandwich and crisps and somewhere around the fifth bite you realise it’s a good idea to shove the Walkers Salt & Vinegar into the butty for added je ne sais quoi.

Chip Butty

Some people just don’t get it, do they?! Up there with a crisp butty is the chip butty. Everyone else in the world doesn’t know what they’re missing out on. What’s better than carbs on carbs?
