The restaurant, renowned for its unique and outlandish burger variations, originally found life at its Northern Quarter venue, and has since opened three more restaurants across Manchester, Liverpool and Leeds.
But sadly, the birthplace of the popular restaurant will soon be no more, with bosses announcing its permanent closure.
A statement on the brand’s social media platforms read: “I’m like a sherbet dibdab of emotion telling this… AlmostFamousNQ is closing forever at the end of next week.
“The legendary hang out where it all began is moving home – thank you all for making it what it was – come say hey, party all week, last one Saturday.”
But they’re not going quietly, with Almost Famous revealing that they’ll be dishing out some incredible goodies to people popping down to say goodbye.
The first two people at the NQ venue after its midday opening on Saturday will win a BLACKCARD, which will get them free burgers for a year at any Almost Famous.
And if that wasn’t enough, the first 20 people in the queue eat for free – no bookings for this.
You’ll also be able to win a real Banksy, with the restaurant saying: “WIN some legit Bansky art from AFNQ – a piece of AFNQ history will be given away with as part of a TREASURE HUNT we are putting on – the first clue comes with the bill and the winner will get a real BANKSY print worth a bare stack of cash and 2 BLACKCARDS.”
They’re accepting bookings from 2pm, but there will only be a limited amount to make sure there is plenty of space for walk-ins. Almost Famous originally opened as a ‘speakeasy style’ pop-up restaurant in the Northern Quarter, and quickly grew in popularity thanks to its menu of whacky burgers, ribs, chips, chilli dogs and cocktails.
In 2013, the NQ restaurant was forced to temporarily close following a fire in the building, which resulted in a major refurbishment and new roof. The other Almost Famous restaurants will remain open.
