The Northern Quarter’s acclaimed burger restaurant Almost Famous will be permanently closing this week, bosses have announced.

The restaurant, renowned for its unique and outlandish burger variations, originally found life at its Northern Quarter venue, and has since opened three more restaurants across Manchester, Liverpool and Leeds.

But sadly, the birthplace of the popular restaurant will soon be no more, with bosses announcing its permanent closure yesterday.

A statement issued across the brand’s social media platforms reads: “I’m like a sherbet dibdab of emotion telling this… AlmostFamousNQ is closing forever at the end of next week.

“The legendary hang out where it all began is moving home – thank you all for making it what it was – come say hey, party all week, last one Saturday.”

The other Almost Famous restaurants will remain open. A reason for the Northern Quarter closure is yet to be confirmed.

The shocking news has dismayed fans of the burger joint, with one person responding: “Well, that sucks. But thanks for all the memories, the times I can’t remember, the burgers, the drinks and the love.”

Another wrote: “Nooooooooo, the excitement of eating there has never been matched by anywhere else and now I won’t be able to make it for 1 last time.”

A third commented: “Mental. Really cool place as well.”

Almost Famous originally opened as a ‘speakeasy style’ pop-up restaurant in the Northern Quarter, and quickly grew in popularity thanks to its menu of whacky burgers, ribs, chips, chilli dogs and cocktails.

In 2013, the NQ restaurant was forced to temporarily close following a fire in the building, which resulted in a major refurbishment and new roof.
