The humble pie butty has been a staple cuisine around Greater Manchester for a while now, with its spiritual home found in Wigan.

Known affectionately as a Wigan Kebab, if you’re unfamiliar with the delicious meal it consists of a pie placed inside a barm – you can add gravy or mushy peas as you see fit.

One restaurant has taken it to a new level, however, with a range of different handmade pies to mix and match with your barm.

Stockport pie shop and restaurant Ate Days A Week is behind the menu, which includes a Salt & Pepper Chicken and Curry version.

According to the website, Ate Days A Week do: “Handmade pies, fresh fish & chips and gourmet sandwiches of the highest restaurant quality for dine-in, delivery or takeaway.”

For the pie butties, you can choose between the aforementioned Salt & Pepper Chicken and Curry pie, or go for a more traditional Steak & Ale, or even a veggie Mixed Bean Chilli & Cheese one.

Named the ‘(I Just) Died In Your Barm’, your pie butty comes topped with minted mushy peas and proper gravy on a buttered barm.

The pies are all handmade in-house with a shortcrust pastry base and puff pastry lid, and if you don’t fancy a full Wigan Kebab you can get them with mash or chips instead.

And if for some bizarre reason you don’t fancy pie at all, you can also get fish and chips, three-cheese grilled cheese sandwiches stuffed with a burger, and Grandad’s Sausage with chips.
