Zouk Tea Bar & Grill will celebrate National Chilli Day by serving up ‘Manchester’s hottest curry’ to blow the socks off daredevil Mancunians.

The traditional Pakistani and Indian cuisine eatery, based on Chester Street, will turn up the heat on Thursday February 23rd, with its Carolina Reaper Challenge  — where courageous participants will have to eat a whole portion of it, which comes served with rice and naan bread.

The extremely hot Carolina Reaper Karahi curry (£14.95) is made specially by chefs using Carolina Reaper chillis — three cooked, two dried and a jar full of pulped chilli. If you’re feeling crazy and want to take it on, you’ll first need to sign a disclaimer stating that Zouk will not take responsibility for any issues caused by eating it.

For those hotheads who do manage to eat this plate full of hot molten lava, you will get it for free and win a bottomless brunch for two (worth £70). You will also get a bowl of much-needed ice cream to cool down and take the sting off.

There’s also a Reaper Kebab Challenge, which if finished will earn you a £10 gift card – and if you somehow manage to demolish both the curry and the kebab, you can win a Sunday Roast platter for two, plus £100 worth of drinks.

Contestants will have 30 minutes to finish eating their fiery feast and no cheating is allowed. That means that you will have to finish every last bit of it without the help from anyone else. It is subject to availability, so there’ll only be a very limited number of portions available – once it’s gone, it’s gone.

If you’re feeling brave and fancy winning a free Sunday roast or bottomless brunch then it’s best to book in advance and ensure you get a place.

You can reserve a table via the Zouk website.
