McDonald’s reopens another 497 drive-thrus from today

McDonald’s has been reopening hundreds of drive-thrus for delivery this week and a load more have opened in Greater Manchester.

Great news for Big Mac fans, as a further 497 McDonald’s are reopening from today as the chain continues its efforts to get back to business.

The plans state that all 924 drive-thrus will be open by Thursday.

Today, along with the hundreds of restaurants open for takeaway, 43 more restaurants reopened for McDelivery.

Announcing the changes, a McDonald’s spokesperson said: “This is only possible following the hard work of the teams in our 44 pilot restaurants.

“Over the last fortnight, our employees, franchisees and suppliers have worked tirelessly to implement new procedures to enable safe working so that we can now help all parts of the UK and Ireland to enjoy the return of the Big Mac.”

Things are a little different to normal under the golden arches with face coverings, gloves, perspex screens. 

The new safety and hygiene processes mean not only will it look different but things will take a little longer. Coupled with high demand, getting your Maccies fix is likely going to require some serious queuing. 

As part of social distancing measures in the restaurants, each will be operating with a reduced team and therefore a reduced menu. You can see the new reduced menu here.
