Meet the Manchester brewers getting their beer from brewery to bar in less than 24 hours

Now that’s fresh as f**k…

A Manchester brewery has set itself the challenge to get its lager from brewery to bar in under twenty-four-hours.

For those of you who aren’t brewing connoisseurs; the lager you’ve been supping in the pub isn’t as brand spanking new as you’d like to think it is because, while it may taste fresh and have a lovely level of fizz to it, it is extremely probable that it had actually been sitting in a keg for as long as six weeks.

This is down to the fact that modern breweries have adopted the keg format, meaning their beer has been adapted to be longer-lasting and ultimately remain shelf-stable through the supply chain, something that’s helpful for brewers who transport their product overseas.

But this is where local and smaller-scale brewies hold an advantage; local beer is on the up-and-up because, thanks to the quick and small-scale distribution, it has that fresh taste and quality that many Macro lagers lack, something that’s proven to be a big hit among drinkers.

And now, there’s one brewery here in Manchester that is taking this commitment to fresh and high quality lager to the next level; Manchester Union Lager has set itself the challenge to get its ‘Fresh as F**k’ lager from brewery to pub in under twenty-four hours.

Now, Manchester Union Lager was founded and built upon the mission to bring fresh and top quality beer to the people of Manchester – one of the men behind the beer, Will Evans, pointed out that while everyone knows what a lager can feel and taste like, ‘people are looking for better drinking experiences nowadays, and our lager comes with a considerable caramel body from the malt, and a slightly bitter finish.’

He added: “We want the lager to be for everyone, people who want a nice, easy refreshing drink, but also people who want to try something different, something more unique.”

And they’re so confident with their quality that they claim to be able to get their beer – which they have labeled ‘fresh as f**k’ – from brewery to bar in under twenty-four hours. That’s literally fresh as f**k.

They aren’t exagerating either; Manchester Union Lager supplies dozens of pubs and bars across the city with their fresh produce – including Ducie Street Warehouse, The Crown and Kettle, The Refuge and The Spinn – and, let’s just say, you’ll be struggling to find any other lager quite as fresh and flavoursome as theirs.

Head over to the Manchester Union Lager website for more information, and make sure to try a pint (or three) for yourself when you can.
