NEW OPENING: Kong’s Chicken Shop is launching an American diner in Dog Bowl

The fried chicken legends over at Kong’s Chicken Shop are set to launch their very own American diner right in the heart of Manchester.

Kong’s, the very place that sent the city into a frenzy with its fried chicken Sunday roast last year, was born out of the popular Northern Quarter ramen spot, CBRB, where it operated on a collection and delivery basis.

Thanks to its success however, Kong’s has been quick to grow and, in its short life, has held residencies in a number of city centre venues such as Foundation Coffee on Portland Street, Northern Monk Refectory, The Head of Steam in Didsbury Village and, most recently, Clubhouse in Spinningfields.

And now, Kong’s has its sights set upon its next venture; this month, the fried chicken connoisseurs will be launching their very own American-style diner in Dog Bowl on Whitworth Street.

The diner will specialise in sandwiches, with the menu already boasting some some seriously tasty new additions, including the Kong’s Buffalo & Blue Cheese Sandwich – fried chicken topped with a blue cheese dressing, crumbled blue cheese, chives, and slaw – and Kong’s Bombay Chicken Sandwich – curry-salted fried chicken thigh, madras mayo, raita, coconut, crispy shallots and pickles.

The Diner sandwich menu also includes Kong’s Cheeseburger – two beef patties, aged cheddar and chunky burger sauce – and the classic Philly Cheesesteak -hanger steak, caramelised onions, provolone cheese, smoked cheddar and mustard mayo.

There will also be a number of ‘plates’ options on the menu for those fancying something a little different, with tempting additions like Buffalo Chicken Poutine, Hanger Steak Poutine, and Nashville Fish & Chips.

And it’s worth mentioning that Kong’s don’t mess about when it comes to sides; their fried chicken can be accompanied by Kong’s Slaw, Onion Rings, Buffalo Blue Cheese Fries and a range of BBQ chicken wings and tenders.

Kong’s will be opening in Dog Bowl next week on January 19th and, to celebrate, will be offering 25% off food for all bookings in its first week.
