NEW OPENING: The Texan BBQ restaurant serving 16-hour slow smoked brisket down Curry Mile

Down Rusholme’s famed Curry Mile, you can expect to find an abundance of – you guessed it – curry houses and takeaways.

Throughout the last couple of decades, the Wilmslow Road-Rusholme stretch has gained both nation-wide and global fame for its handsome South Asian restaurant offerings, with it earning itself the nickname ‘Curry Mile’ all the way back in the 1980s.

But these days, you can expect to find something a little different down the famous street… A Texan BBQ joint, to be precise. 

Yep, Rusholme’s Curry Mile is now home to Pitmaster BBQ & Smokehouse; a proper Texan BBQ joint that doesn’t mess around with its brisket and ribs offerings. 

The restaurant has gained quite the reputation for it’s sixteen-hour slow smoked beef brisket, which literally falls apart in your mouth – this is known as ‘Brisket like Butter’ over in the States, a notoriously difficult standard to meet. 

The brisket is dished up in a number of different forms, including on top of the Smoked Brisket Melt Burger or simply by itself alongside a selection of cold sides and hot sauces.

There are also some mouth-watering premium high grade beef ribs on offer, which are each seasoned with Pitmaster’s homemade dry rub before being smoked for eight hours. The racks are huge and, remarkably, you can get a full rack of three for just £44. 

Pitmaster also offer homemade skin-on fries, jalapeño bites and a wonderfully tangy mustard coleslaw to accompany the brisket and ribs – the perfect sides for a BBQ feast.

The absence of curry has certainly not acted as a disadvantage for the relatively new restaurant, which opened earlier this year, and the reviews have been raving. 

Pitmaster can be found down Wilmslow Road near Whitworth Park, and is open for restaurant walk-ins, bookings and online delivery every day from 3pm – 11pm.
