Tesco has launched a new ‘premium’ £5 meal deal with four million fancy food combinations for hungry customers to try, calling it ‘gourmet on the go’.
Hungry workers who didn’t bring a packed lunch or are just looking for something convenient and reasonably priced to have on their breaks may be enticed by the supermarket chain’s supposedly better than average meal deal option.
We all know meal deals are basic, standard and just about do the job when you are hungry and looking for some quick and cheap scran. As well as Boots and Greggs, Tescos is probably one of the most popular grab and go meal deal choices on the market – but let’s admit it can get a little boring.
Wanting to stay in top spot, the supermarket brand has now developed a ‘premium’ offering to keep its customers coming back for more deals. After shoppers were outraged by the price hike of its standard meal deal up to £3.90 for those without a Clubcard late last year, a more expensive option might not go down too well — even with the endless varieties.
The new fancier meal deal will be seen next to the original meal deal across all Tesco supermarkets and will set Clubcard holders back £5, but for those without one, it will cost a bit more at £5.50.
Premium Meal Deal shoppers will be able to bag well known brands such as Itsu, YO! Sushi, and Pollen & Grace, as well as 10 brand new mains from Tesco’s Finest and Wicked Kitchens. Included in the premium deal will be a total of 33 choices for the mains option — more than ever offered before.
Hungry diners can also choose from any of the regular snacks and drinks that come with a regular meal deal. Tesco claim there are over four million meal variations available with their new Premium Meal Deal, with Clubcard holders saving £3.74 compared to if they bought the items separately.
The new lunch deal is now available to purchase across 1,200 Tesco stores nationwide.
