This Northern Quarter restaurant and bar has launched new dishes on the menu and it includes plenty of fried cheese goodness.

As the weather gets colder and the nights are darker, there’s only one thing to save us all – CHEESE!

The Pen & Pencil has launched several new dishes on the menu that include just that – and they’ve even fried the cheese to make it even better.

The dishes include the New York Mac & Cheeseburger (£10.50), a huge mac and cheese pattie that is deep-fried and served with crispy bacon, jalapeno mayo and iceberg lettuce in a sesame seed bun.

There’s also the Jefferson Mac & Cheese Lava Cake Salad (£12) which features a show-stopping mac and cheese ball, coated in breadcrumbs and deep-fried, all served on a bed of dressed mixed leaf.

Once you slice this baby open, you’ll see all the gooey cheesy goodness ooze out.

Finally, there’s the Deep Fried Cheese & Prosciutto Sandwich (£8). Like a normal cheese toastie but covered in breadcrumbs and then deep-fried.

It’s seriously naughty – but it’s winter now isn’t it?!

The new dishes aren’t all cheesy though. There’s a brand new Baked French Toast Casserole (£9) on the brunch menu. As well as Winter Squash Ratatouille (£9) and Homemade Potato Roti on Pea Soup (£8.50), both served with poached eggs.

And there’s also a spicy Nduja Potato Hash for £9.50.

For new main course dishes, you can grab a delicious Salmon with Sesame Couscous (£14), Monkfish with Beetroot Lentils & Clams (£14), BBQ Ribs (£14) and a New Yorker Chicken (£13.50).

If all that wasn’t enough, there are some brand spanking new sides too, including Cheese Fries (£4), Spinach & Feta Rolls (£4.50), Halloumi Fries (£3.50) and some incredible Cheeseburger Spring Rolls (£6).

You can book in at The Pen and Pencil here.
