It’s that time of the year again: The prestigious British Takeaway Awards are back for their 2021 round up, and some real local corkers have made the cut.
The British Takeaway Awards, in association with Just Eat, describe themselves as ‘the Oscars of the takeaway world’ – and let me tell you, minus the presence of Brad Pitt and George Clooney, they really aren’t far off it.
So far, they’ve hosted five award evenings that shine a light on the most elite independent takeaway spots across the whole of the UK, separating their awards ceremonies into twelve regional categories.
And this year, in the North West category, three Stockport establishments made the cut. Yes, three! Though are we really surprised?
First up, we have The Bun & Bones Club, a local burger joint that’s been rustling up (arguably) the best burgers in the whole of Stockport. They have an extensive menu boasting a whole selection of wonderfully messy loaded burgers, such as the Picmac, which comes with two beef patties, cheese, smoked bacon, salad and a grilled mac and cheese ‘puck’ wedged where the Big Mac bread would normally be found, and the sloppiest ever Sloppy Joe, which comes topped with two beef patties, house chilli, grilled halloumi and lashings of baconnaise.
Next on the list we have LAPD Food, a true Stockport gem that offers all the comforting takeaway classics such as pizzas, burgers, kebabs, fried chicken and wraps. Everything is freshly cooked in house and very reasonably priced, so you won’t be taking out a mortgage on your cheeky takeaway treat.
LAPD actually made it to the British Takeaway Awards final in 2020, but was beaten to the throne by Warrington takeout Brothers Burgers… So maybe 2021 is their year!

And last but certainly not least, we have The Spinn, owned by ex-Emmerdale star Adam Thomas and his mate Scott Graham. The Spinn has gained quite the reputation for itself among locals for their epic menu of Signature burgers, wraps, fries and, of course, wings, which you can get slathered in one of eight of Scott’s home made Oh My Glazes sauces.
The eventual winner of the highly sought-after award will receive £1,000 in cash, £200 to spend at Just Eat and an exclusive trophy. From here they’ll get entered into the ‘Best Takeaway in Britain’ category alongside all of the other regional winners, and if they win that – they’ll get £5k in cash a trophy and a media support package from Just Eat.
The British Takeaway Awards 2021 will be taking place this Monday 6th September – to vote for your favourite takeaway, visit the website here.
