Straight talking woman from Barnsley slams the new Tier 3 lockdown rules saying ‘I’m not going to be fastened in my house’.
Speaking on BBC News, the 83-year-old woman called the introduction of tighter restrictions ‘ridiculous’.
She said: “I think it’s all ridiculous. We should never have been in lockdown.
“All the people who were vulnerable should have been helped and kept safe. All the rest of us, I’m 83, I don’t give a sod.”
“I look at it this way I’ve not got all that many years left of me and I’m not going to be fastened in a house when the government have got it all wrong.”
She added: “We need, how can we get the country on its feet? Money-wise, where’s all the money?
“By the end of this year, there’s going to be millions of people unemployed and you know who’s going to pay for that? All the young ones. Not me because I’m going to be dead.”
It comes after the news Barnsley would be plunged into Tier 3 lockdown from Saturday.
Her statements have divded opinions with some people saying ‘she has a point to be fair’ and others adding “this is exactly the view of my own parents, they just want normality back. They want to have a few nice holidays and spend time with their friends and family before their time is up. They don’t feel this virus is any more of a risk to them than flu.”
Another added: “Now if only our politicians had the same honest courage and common sense as this fine lady. That’s what we need and what we are so lacking”
A third said: “Give her the keys to 10 Downing Street. That’s more sense in 35 seconds than anyone at Whitehall has uttered in 7 months”
