October 31st is set to have a Blue Moon that won’t be seen again for almost 30 years.

As we’ve been stuck at home for the past few months, the only glimmer of any kind of travelling we’ve all had is to wishfully stare at the skies.

Luckily, there’s been plenty of happenings in the space world, we’ve had the first private mission, satellites and incredible meteor showers.

The moon has also been up to lots too, including the Super Pink Moon in April, Super Flower Moon in May and the Strawberry Moon of June.

And in just two short months we’re set to have a super creepy Halloween with a huge Blue Moon.

‘Blue Moon’ actually refers to when the moon occurs, with 13 full moons in one year instead of the usual 12.

There’s a good chance October’s Blue Moon won’t actually appear blue, but it’s not impossible. The moon can appear blue if the atmosphere is filled with dust or smoke particles.

There are two types of blue moons: either when it’s the second of two full moons in a calendar month, or when it’s the third of four in a single season.

October’s Blue Moon is set to be a monthly Blue Moon, meaning there will be a full moon on both October 1st and 31st.

Fingers crossed for some clear skies, as this moon won’t happen again until 2039 according to AccuWeather meteorologist Brian Lada.

Get it in your diaries now folks!
