Alton Towers announced in June that it will reopen on July 4th, in line with government guidance.

However, while the resort is expected to fully reopen in July, it’s partially reopening this weekend, which will see the theme park open but all of the rides and roller coasters shut.

The park is opening its gardens instead, with a limited capacity and restricted opening hours to ensure good social distancing is observed.

Visitors have been advised to pre-book their spots online, and garden entry is currently £1 for pass holders and £12 for non-pass holders.

Guests and staff of the park will be subject to a variety of new hygiene and safety measures. Hand sanitiser will be made available for guests at the park and there will be enhanced cleaning taking place by staff who will also be wearing PPE.

The park itself will be split with social distancing markers and there will be new signage and information in place that guests will be asked to follow.

Emma Catterall, Divisional Director of Alton Towers Resort said: “The Gardens have been open to the public in one form or another since 1839, but are often overlooked by guests as they rush from one ride to another.”

She continued: “We are delighted to have this opportunity to offer guests the chance to enjoy the Gardens in themselves.

“We are limiting the number of guests each day, and have put a raft of hygiene and safety measures in place to protect our visitors and employees.

“We are excited to be welcoming guests back to the Resort and offering families a beautiful place to enjoy time in the outdoors together.”
