Brain cancer campaigner Laura Nuttall, who ticked off a ‘bucket list’ of ambitions while living with terminal cancer herself, has sadly died at the age of 23.

Laura, an inspirational young woman from Barrowford, Lancashire, was diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer glioblastoma in 2018, after going for a routine eye test.

She was given an original prognosis of 12 months.

In a post on Twitter on Monday May 22nd, Laura’s mum wrote: “I’m heartbroken to share the news that we lost our beautiful Laura in the early hours of this morning.

“She was fierce & tenacious to the end & it was truly the honour of my life to be her mum.

“We are devastated at the thought of life without our girl, she was a force of nature.”

After her diagnosis, Laura completed a ‘bucket list’ of goals which included, graduating from the University of Manchester, commanding a Royal Navy ship and presenting the BBC weather forecast.

She was a fierce campaigner for brain cancer and raised vital funds for charities.

After four years away, Bolton comedian Peter Kay put on three special gigs to raise funds for Laura’s treatment in Germany.

Her treatment in March followed her fourth major operation in October 2022 to remove a tumour.

The graduate was also an ambassador for The Brain Tumour Charity, who her family say have been an incredible support.
