She is hoping to raise awareness for other people to go and get checked

Loose Women presenter Coleen Nolan has revealed she has been diagnosed with cancer, making her the fourth family member.

Coleen Nolan, 58, has said she has been diagnosed with skin cancer, the fourth sister to receive a diagnosis for cancer.

Coleen, a TV presenter and member of Blackpool formed Anglo-Irish girl group from the 1970s The Nolans, has already seen several of her sisters diagnosed with the disease.

Bernie died of breast cancer in 2013, aged 52, and Linda announced earlier this year that her cancer has spread to her brain. Anne was diagnosed with breast cancer three years ago for the second time but is now living cancer free.

Coleen decided to see a doctor to get checked out after her sister Maureen kept pointing out ‘a tiny bit of skin’ that was ‘a bit red’.

The TV personality said she had an appointment with a dermatologist about ‘another problem’ when the medical professional told her the patch was common skin cancer basal cell carcinoma.

Coleen, who’s also appeared on Celebrity Big Brother and Dancing On Ice, said: “I went back in and he was very good and he said, ‘Look, it’s nothing to worry about.

“‘It is actually a cancer that doesn’t necessarily spread, but you do need to treat it and we’ll try it with cream and then the chemo cream and then if that doesn’t work, we’ll cut it out and give you a skin graft.'”

She continued: “My first instinct, typical me, was to laugh hysterically because I just thought that’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard anybody say.

“I’m sick of cancer and also, my first instinct was, I’m not telling anybody in my family because this that I’ve got at the moment seems nothing compared to what my sisters have been through.

“And… what Linda is going through, where it has gone to her brain and she’s having chemo.

“It just seemed so pathetic for some reason to go back and go, ‘Oh yeah, I’ve got a carcinoma’.”

The star added she has to try the cream again and is hoping to raise awareness for other people to get checked.

After her sister’s announcement of her diagnosis, Linda, 64, wrote how very proud she was of her younger sibling Coleen in a tweet.

She wrote: “She acted on her instincts, found something amiss and got it checked. If you spot something out of the ordinary for you, PLEASE get it checked. Don’t be frightened.”

Linda revealed a third recurrence of cancer found in her liver in 2020, after she received treatment for breast cancer in 2006.

Greater Manchester Police

Two men have now been charged with murder, following the discovery of a human torso in Kersal Dale.

As well as that, more suspected human remains were also discovered this morning, Monday April 29th, in an alleyway close to the railway lines off Worsley Road, Eccles.

This follows earlier discoveries of human remains over the past three weeks, at Kersal Dale, Blackleach Reservoir and Colliery Wood, all in Salford.

Greater Manchester Police

Michal Jaroslaw Polchowski (25/04/1956) and Marcin Majerkiewicz (10/04/1982) both of Worsley Road, Eccles, have been charged with murder.

They are set to appear at Tameside Magistrates Court this afternoon.

While formal identification is still ongoing, the remains found at Kersal Dale are believed to be of a local man in his 60s. The remains found at the other three locations are still to be tested, but police are confident they belong to the same victim.

ACC Sarah Jackson said: “We have had large numbers of officers, staff and specialists working diligently on this investigation over the last three weeks. It has been very much a large, collective effort, with the victim and family at the heart of it from the outset.

“We have specially trained officers deployed to support the family as they come to terms with this tragic news. They are aware of this morning’s further discovery and will continue to be kept up to date with how we are progressing.

“Despite the charges brought today, our work is far from over.

“The scenes we already have established in Bury and Salford will remain in place for much of this week whilst our searches and enquiries continue. Local officers will continue to patrol the impacted areas to provide reassurance.

“We will continue following every line of enquiry to recover and reunite the victim with his family, bringing a dignified end to this terrible scenario.

“I’d like to thank the communities of Salford and beyond for their cooperation throughout this investigation. I know this incident has come as a shock, and the support we’ve had from those in the area is very much appreciated.”
