Deansgate in Manchester’s city centre is closed to the public this morning after a man was reportedly seen ‘making threats with a gun’.
In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: “Police were called around 3am today (December 13th) to a report of a man making threats with a potential firearm on Deansgate, Manchester.
“The man subsequently fled the scene. Thankfully no injuries have been reported and enquiries are ongoing. A scene remains in place.”
A6 Blackfriars Street to A34 Bridge Street was closed in the early hours of this morning, with services from bus companies including First Manchester, Go North West Bus and Stagecoach Greater Manchester experiencing delays due to being diverted.
Transport for Greater Manchester tweeted: “Deansgate closed both directions between and including the full junctions of Bridge St/John Dalton St and King St/King St West”.
In an update at 5.46am, analytics company Inrix, whose offices are located in the area, reported: “A56 Deansgate One Way Street closed due to police incident at A34 Bridge Street / John Dalton Street. The junction is closed from all directions.”
