A family is devastated after a beloved 22-year-old woman unexpectedly died in her sleep.

Her death devastated her family and friends, who said the world has ‘lost its sparkle’.

Jess Ball, 22, passed away while sleeping after suffering unexplained acute heart failure, in November 2021.

The student at the University of Central Lancashire had a promising future career in architecture ahead of her.

A close friend of Jess’s, Lauren Beaumont-Blundell, said the ‘world will never be the same again’ following her tragic death.

As Lauren paid tribute to her friend, she told the Liverpool Echo that Jess was ‘full of life’ and would always ‘light up a room’.

“She was just super protective and just so loyal, the kind of person that would always have your back. If you were her friend she just cared so deeply about you”, she said.

“When she walked into a room you could feel something had changed and she was just so glamorous. For everyone who knew her, I’m not sure that the world will ever be the same again.”

Lauren, a 22-year-old teacher, met Jess at Greenbank High School but the pair lost touch after college and had planned to meet up.

However, Jess died before they could and now Lauren is running in the Southport 10k as a way of honouring her memory.

Lauren said: “There were no warning signs for her death, it was so unexpected, she was really fit and healthy. So I think because of how unexpected it was I don’t think even now people have been able to comprehend that she has gone.

“The world has lost its sparkle now that she has gone, her family miss her so much. Her loss is felt enormously in so many different ways by so many different people.

“I think a part of everyone has gone as well.”

Acute heart failure is a sudden, life-threatening condition in which the heart is still beating, but it cannot deliver enough oxygen to meet the body’s needs.

Lauren is raising money for The Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital Charity which works to save lives, support patients and raise awareness of heart and lung conditions in both adults and children.

Lauren added: “I want to do this run for Jess and her memory, but she would think I was crazy doing it. I want to say thank you to everyone for the support. But mostly to her family and closest friends, I’m doing it for them as well as Jess.”

Greater Manchester Police

Two men have now been charged with murder, following the discovery of a human torso in Kersal Dale.

As well as that, more suspected human remains were also discovered this morning, Monday April 29th, in an alleyway close to the railway lines off Worsley Road, Eccles.

This follows earlier discoveries of human remains over the past three weeks, at Kersal Dale, Blackleach Reservoir and Colliery Wood, all in Salford.

Greater Manchester Police

Michal Jaroslaw Polchowski (25/04/1956) and Marcin Majerkiewicz (10/04/1982) both of Worsley Road, Eccles, have been charged with murder.

They are set to appear at Tameside Magistrates Court this afternoon.

While formal identification is still ongoing, the remains found at Kersal Dale are believed to be of a local man in his 60s. The remains found at the other three locations are still to be tested, but police are confident they belong to the same victim.

ACC Sarah Jackson said: “We have had large numbers of officers, staff and specialists working diligently on this investigation over the last three weeks. It has been very much a large, collective effort, with the victim and family at the heart of it from the outset.

“We have specially trained officers deployed to support the family as they come to terms with this tragic news. They are aware of this morning’s further discovery and will continue to be kept up to date with how we are progressing.

“Despite the charges brought today, our work is far from over.

“The scenes we already have established in Bury and Salford will remain in place for much of this week whilst our searches and enquiries continue. Local officers will continue to patrol the impacted areas to provide reassurance.

“We will continue following every line of enquiry to recover and reunite the victim with his family, bringing a dignified end to this terrible scenario.

“I’d like to thank the communities of Salford and beyond for their cooperation throughout this investigation. I know this incident has come as a shock, and the support we’ve had from those in the area is very much appreciated.”
