A husband has spoken of how his world fell apart ‘in a split second’ when his wife died three weeks after a dog attack.
Marie Stevens, 40, was attacked and bitten multiple times on her arm by two Rottweilers on Thursday, August 17th.
Tragically, her husband Mark Stevens found her dead in bed at her home in Brighton-Le-Sands, Merseyside, on September 3rd.
The attack allegedly happened as Marie ‘tried to stroke’ the dogs, who were both on a lead, on Park Lane West, in Netherton.
According to reports, the dog owners – a man and a woman – tried to stop the Rottweilers from attacking Marie.
Mark has since spoken of the moment his ‘world fell apart’ in an emotional tribute to his ‘amazing’ wife.
Speaking to the Echo, Mark said: “She was a bubbly person who loved animals, our house is like Noah’s Ark.
“Everyone around the neighbourhood knew her, she constantly laughed and made everyone happy and feel good. We didn’t have any kids, we had our much-loved dogs.
“We both looked after my uncle and worked full-time jobs, so we never really had the chance to have children ourselves but she was amazing, she always put others first.”
Marie received first aid until an ambulance arrived to take her to hospital where she was treated for her injuries. However, Mark found his beloved wife dead at her home address on the morning after she had been discharged from hospital.
The couple met on a blind date over 20 years ago, as Mark added: “From the minute I saw her, the rest was history. Before she died we were talking about spending more time together.
“My whole world has fallen apart in a split second; 21 years together, married for four, and that’s it, gone. It’s like restarting my life now. But I’ve got so many memories and a strong family.”
He continued: “Marie was so loved, it’s hard to deal with at the minute, we’ve been robbed. She loved animals, we had a ‘best dog’ at our wedding and we loved going to Wales with our dog.
“I’m so very sorry I lost you, I hope you and Max are walking together on the beach.”
A post mortem determined the primary cause of Marie’s death was a pulmonary embolism. Since her tragic death, tributes have been flooding in for the ‘much-loved’ woman who ‘made everyone ‘laugh’ and ‘feel good’.
Former colleague of Marie’s, Emily Critchley, said: “Everyone says people are nice but she really was lovely. She talked to everyone and was a huge animal lover.
“We are still in shock. She had the best laugh and would have you laughing. She used to talk and sing to herself all the time, loving Whitney Houston.
“And she loved to go on date night with Mark. She’d get her hair done, and made so much effort, even after 20 years.”
Marie was a care worker for over 20 years and enjoyed her job at the Woolsten Mead Care Home where she liked helping people and putting others first.
After years of will-they-won’t-they speculation, Oasis are officially BACK together for a reunion tour. The Gallagher brothers have put aside their differences in the name of music, making thousands of fans extremely happy in the process.
The band teased the news on their socials over the weekend, posting a video on Sunday morning with today’s date (Tuesday, August 27th) and the time 8am.
The legendary Mancunian rockers will take to the stage next summer, with gigs in Cardiff, London, Edinburgh, Dublin and, of course, Manchester.
15 years after splitting, the band confirmed they would be back for 14 shows, saying: “The guns have fallen silent. The stars have aligned. The great wait is over. Come see. It will not be televised”.
The gigs will be Oasis’s ‘only shows in Europe next year’, with tickets on sale this Saturday at 8am in Ireland and 9am in the UK.

Two men have now been charged with murder, following the discovery of a human torso in Kersal Dale.
As well as that, more suspected human remains were also discovered this morning, Monday April 29th, in an alleyway close to the railway lines off Worsley Road, Eccles.
This follows earlier discoveries of human remains over the past three weeks, at Kersal Dale, Blackleach Reservoir and Colliery Wood, all in Salford.
Greater Manchester Police
Michal Jaroslaw Polchowski (25/04/1956) and Marcin Majerkiewicz (10/04/1982) both of Worsley Road, Eccles, have been charged with murder.
They are set to appear at Tameside Magistrates Court this afternoon.
While formal identification is still ongoing, the remains found at Kersal Dale are believed to be of a local man in his 60s. The remains found at the other three locations are still to be tested, but police are confident they belong to the same victim.
ACC Sarah Jackson said: “We have had large numbers of officers, staff and specialists working diligently on this investigation over the last three weeks. It has been very much a large, collective effort, with the victim and family at the heart of it from the outset.
“We have specially trained officers deployed to support the family as they come to terms with this tragic news. They are aware of this morning’s further discovery and will continue to be kept up to date with how we are progressing.
“Despite the charges brought today, our work is far from over.
“The scenes we already have established in Bury and Salford will remain in place for much of this week whilst our searches and enquiries continue. Local officers will continue to patrol the impacted areas to provide reassurance.
“We will continue following every line of enquiry to recover and reunite the victim with his family, bringing a dignified end to this terrible scenario.
“I’d like to thank the communities of Salford and beyond for their cooperation throughout this investigation. I know this incident has come as a shock, and the support we’ve had from those in the area is very much appreciated.”
