John Lewis has confirmed that they will be closing eight store in the UK putting 1,300 jobs at risk.
The shops that have been identified for closure include Heathrow and St Pancras travel hub shops, four At Home shops in Croydown, Newbury, Swindon and Tamworth and two full-size department stores in Birmingham and Watford.
Former deputy chief executive of Co-op, Pippa Wicks, was appointed the new boss of the department store chain in June.
Chair of the partnership with Waitrose, Dame Sharon White, said: “As we emerge from the pandemic there is tremendous opportunity for John Lewis to play an even bigger role in people’s lives. I am confident that under Pippa’s leadership the brand will continue to thrive.”
