A man has been arrested after a 10-year-old boy was bitten in what police believe to be an XL Bully-type dog, in Blackburn.
The boy was taken to hospital after he was attacked by the dog as he walked along Cedar Street in Blackburn at around 12.30pm on Saturday (November 18th).
He was being treated for a leg injury following the attack, police said.
A 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault – ABH and affray after threats were made towards the family of the victim. He has since been bailed pending further inquiries.
A video which circulated on social media appears to show a dog latching on to the coat of a boy before the adult he was with, along with members of the public, try to release him from its grip.
A spokesperson for Lancashire Police told the Lancashire Telegraph: “A man has been arrested following an incident where a child was bitten by a dog.
“We were called at around 12.30pm on Saturday November 18th to reports a 10-year-old boy had been bitten to the top of one leg while walking on Cedar Street, Blackburn.
“The dog – which at this time we believe is an XL Bulldog type – has been seized. A short time later it was reported that threats had been made towards the family of the victim.
“A 27-year-old man from Blackburn was arrested on suspicion of assault – ABH and affray and has since been bailed pending further enquiries.”
