A man has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of nine-year-old Olivia Pratt-Korbel in her home in Liverpool.
Police say the thirty-five-year-old man, who is suspected to have been the original target of the shooting, has been detained in hospital on a prison recall after breaching the terms of his licence.
He will be recalled to prison to serve the remainder of his licence, where he will be further questioned in connection with the murder.
While he was also shot on Monday night, he remains in a stable condition.
Olivia was killed when a masked gunman chased a man into her home in Knotty Ash, Liverpool, on Monday night, shooting her in the chest.
Olivia was rushed to Alder Hey hospital, where she sadly died from her injuries.
While the gunman remains at large, Merseyside Police announced this morning that two sources had come forward with a name for the suspect.
News that detectives had been given a lead has been welcomed by Merseyside Police and Crime Commissioner Emily Spurrell, who told BBC News: “I’m really pleased to hear information is coming forward.
“It was the plea that was put out yesterday – we know somebody out there will know what happened and who is involved.”
This comes after officers previously urged people to ‘get beyond’ the culture of ‘not grassing to police’ and come forward with information.
Police continue to review CCTV footage and are still conducting house-to-house inquiries.
The force say the gunman entered Olivia’s home and ‘fired indiscriminately’, hitting the child in the chest as she stood behind her mother Cheryl Korbel, who was shot in the wrist.
The family had no connection to either of the men, police said.
