A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following a fatal double stabbing in Ancoats last night.

Emergency services descended upon Carruthers Street off of Pollard Street near the city centre at around 6:30pm last night (April 20th) following reports of an altercation. Tragically, a man in his twenties was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another male, also aged in his twenties, was left with leg injuries.

In an update this morning, Greater Manchester Police confirmed that a twenty-three year old man had been arrested on suspicion of murder after he turned up to A&E.

“We can now reassure members of the public that we do not believe there is any threat to the wider community, that being said, extra officers will remain in the area in the coming days.
