New research has revealed Manchester, Salford and Rochdale among the top 10 crime capitals of the UK.

We’ve made it onto another top 10 list, but it’s not looking good for Greater Manchester this time.

Despite efforts and measures in place to prevent all kinds of criminal acts within our society, crime unfortunately remains ever present as police forces continue to work hard to keep our streets safe.

Security experts at Get Licensed have decided to have a look at ONS data to reveal the most dangerous areas of the UK.

The research takes into account the rate of crime, violent crime, stalking and harassment, theft offences, drug offences and public order offences.

The data is normalised per 1,000 people with each region awarded a crime score out of 10.

Manchester found itself in the top three most dangerous areas, in joint position with Middlesbrough, sharing a crime score of 9.04 out of 10.

Both local authorities are consistently high scorers across the board, with Manchester and Middlesbrough ranking top for violence against the person and public order offences, and Manchester having 183.22 total recorded crimes per 1,000 people.

Salford was ranked as ninth with a crime score of 8.66 out of 10 and was ranked high for drug offences and public order offences.

Rochdale came in 10th place and ranked high for stalking and harassment and public order offences.

But taking the crown as the crime capital of the UK is Hartlepool, with an overall crime score of 9.54 out of 10.

Crime per 1,000 people for this North Eastern seaside and port town was especially high for stalking and harassment and violence against the person, ranking third and fifth when compared to all local authorities.

Further findings revealed Blackpool is the most antisocial area of the UK, with 66 antisocial behaviour offences per 1,000 people.
