The Cristiano Ronaldo drama following his explosive interview with Piers Morgan has taken another twist.
According to the latest reports, Manchester United have already begun the process of sacking the football superstar.
They’ve also reportedly told him not to return to the club after the World Cup finishes in December.
United are furious with Ronaldo after he gave an extensive, in-depth interview on TalkTV this week – which featured a number of accusations.
The 37-year-old hit out at manager Erik ten Hag, as well as club owners the Glazer family and the attitude of younger players.
However, the interview has come back to haunt him, and according to the latest reports Ronaldo has made his final appearance for United, with the club taking steps to cancel his contract.
Lawyers for Manchester United think his actions are enough to be considered a ‘breach of his contract’, MailOnline reports – which come in at an excess of £500,000 a week and has seven months left on it.
If the club is successful in terminating Ronaldo’s contract with no compensation, they would save somewhere in the region of £16 million.
On top of that, The Guardian is reporting that United have already told the Portuguese superstar not to return to the club’s training ground when his country’s World Cup campaign comes to an end in Qatar.
The newspaper also says the Red Devils have appointed lawyers to sue Ronaldo for alleged breach of contract over claims made in the interview.
