The body of a missing man and his dog were found in Scotland after falling 100ft during a walk in bad weather conditions.
Kyle Sambrook, 33, from West Yorkshire was found dead in the Scottish Highlands on Saturday afternoon, February 25th. Police believe Kyle was carrying his pet beagle, Bane, when the tragic accident happened.
The pair had been wild camping on February 18th when they disappeared. A desperate search was launched when the two failed to return home to Featherstone, West Yorkshire on Tuesday 21st.
Their bodies were discovered by mountain rescue teams conducting a search operation over the weekend. They were found in a gully around 2,625 ft up on the 3,632 ft high Stob Coire nam Beith.
Brian Bathurst, deputy team leader of Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team said it was possible the landscape gardener was carrying his beloved dog when they fell almost 100ft in ‘appalling weather’. Scottish Police have said there does not appear to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding their tragic deaths.
Tributes for Mr Sambrook have come flooding in via social media as family, friends and strangers paid their respects. One person said: “I was really hoping for a different outcome. RIP two beautiful souls, together forever.”
Another wrote: “RIP Kyle and Bane. I miss our chats and your amazing gardening. Glad you were in your favourite place with your favourite little guy.” A third person commented: “Rest in peace kyle. Thank you for being amazingly you. Sending thoughts and love to you and your family. You’ll forever be the best hiker ever known.”
Officers confirmed the bodies found were that of Mr Sambrook and his dog bane. They were recovered by mountain rescue teams and HM Coastguard in Glencoe at around 2.15pm on Saturday.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said Mr Sambrook’s family wished to thank all involved in the search and had requested their privacy be respected. They added: “Our thoughts are with Kyle’s family as we support them at this difficult time.”
