Marks and Spencer has announced the opening date for its huge new store which will take over the old Debenhams plot in the Trafford Centre.

The retail giant revealed early in the year that it would be transforming the site, which was formerly Debenhams, with an opening date set for November 30th.

Shoppers can expect an even bigger and better store with ‘spacious and stylish’ new Clothing, Home and Beauty departments as well as a much larger new Food Hall with a new-look market-place feel – all set across a 98,000 sq ft commercial space.

A new M&S Café will have 138 seats with what has been described by the retailer as ‘an award-winning new design’.

In September, bosses said that the new store will create 180 new jobs with staff at its existing store transferring over to the new location within the Trafford Centre once it opens.

The 180 jobs will be in addition to the already existing staff members.

The former Debenhams plot at the shopping centre has stood empty since May 2021 when the company closed its physical stores after going into administration.

Marks and Spencer have had a store within the Trafford Centre since 2001, three years after the shopping mall opened its doors in 1998.

Store Manager Laura Smith, who’s worked for Marks and Spencer for 25 years, said: “We are really excited to announce that the new M&S Trafford Centre store will open on November 30th.

“I can’t wait to welcome the local community to visit the store later this month and see it all for themselves.

“Whether you’re looking for a big family food shop, the latest Autumn/Winter styles from our Clothing, Home and Beauty departments, or a mid-shop pit stop in our amazing new M&S Café – we’ve got you covered.”

The new market-style Food Hall will feature displays brimming with quality, fresh and trusted produce from M&S selected farms, as well as an M&S Bakery offering daily freshly baked goods and a dedicated M&S Wine shop, which will have a variety of award-winning drinks.

The new Food Hall will deliver trusted and value products for M&S customers.
