Dozens of people who filmed the aftermath of a fatal crash on the M6 earlier this month are being prosecuted for their actions, the police have confirmed.
On July 8th, three lorries were involved in a devastating crash near Lymm in Cheshire, resulting in one driver tragically losing his life.
Following the ‘horror crash,’ the motorway was closed for around seventeen hours – however, this didn’t stop hoards of people filming the devastation as it unfolded.

North West Motorway Police confirmed that forty-eight drivers were spotted filming the incident on their mobile phones, Cheshire Live reported.
And now, weeks on from the tragedy, NWMP has announced that dozens of those seen filming the crash have been identified and will be getting prosecuted for their actions.
In a post on Twitter, NWMP said that it is an offence to use a hand held mobile phone at the wheel, and it is ‘insensitive’ to video the scene where people who know those involved may not be aware of the incident.
They wrote alongside a photograph of the letter sent out: “To the 48 People seen/witnessed videoing the incident from their hand held mobile phones on the Northbound Carriageway whilst passing the incident, your details have now been provided to us and a letter of prosecution is in the post to you.
“It is an offence to use a hand held mobile phone whilst driving. Furthermore it is insensitive to video the scene of such a devastating incident whereby family, colleagues and friends may well not be aware of the incident. #BeRespectfulalways.”
NWMP continue to investigate the identities of the other culprits involved in the crime.
