Greater Manchester Police has appealed for information and witnesses after a man was found dead in the Rochdale canal.
Officers were called out to a bridge over the Rochdale Canal on Well I’ ’Th Lane and Milkstone Road, in the Greater Manchester town at around 11pm on Monday October 31st.
According to the Manchester Evening News, emergency services were at the scene for over twelve hours.
A body was then pulled out of the water yesterday (November 1st).
While GMP has said they do not believe there to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident, they are now appealing for information that will help with their enquiries.
Specifically, they are asking for anyone who saw an ‘elderly male feeding ducks’ on the day of the incident to come forward.
Issuing the public appeal, a spokesperson for GMP Rochdale said: “We’re investigating the death of a man who was found in the canal by Well I’ ’Th Lane & Milkstone Road, Rochdale.
“Initial enquiries suggest there are no suspicious circumstances, but GMP are appealing for witnesses who were in the location of the canal path on Monday (31/10/22) between 12pm and 5pm who may have seen an elderly male feeding ducks.”
