Greater Manchester police came to the rescue of a dog who had reportedly been left inside a campervan for three days.
The golden Labrador had been locked inside the vehicle for three days, according to reports.
Officers received a call regarding concern for the welfare of a dog inside a campervan, which had been parked up for three days, at around 1.15pm on Sunday August 20th.
Reports advised that no windows were left open on the vehicle and no people had been spotted in or around the campervan either.
When the dog was found, officers broke a window to pull the animal out. The labrador is now being looked after in care at one of GMP’s rescue centres while attempts are being made to try to trace the owner.
Chief Inspector of Neighbourhoods in CoM Central, Chris Boyd, said: “It is just not acceptable to allow a dog to be in a vehicle on their own for even a couple of hours, let alone three days.”
“When we found him, there were no open windows and, with it being quite warm today, this could have ended up a disaster,” he continued.
“Dogs don’t respond to the heat like humans do and as such, this lovely dog could have overheated. Even leaving a window open or a bowl of water is not good enough.
“Just don’t leave your dog on it’s own in a vehicle. If you are planning on being away from your vehicle, then don’t take the risk and leave your dog at home.”
