Kate Green, TfGM’s TravelSafe Partnership Manager, added: “While incidents like this are thankfully extremely rare, it happened at a busy stop in the middle of the afternoon and will have been concerning for those who witnessed it as well as our other passengers and the wider public.

“I hope the injuries are not too serious and that the person involved is able to make a full recovery.

“Our control rooms operate 24/7 and monitor feeds from more than 3,800 CCTV cameras, including across all our stops, and we will do whatever we can to help the police investigation and ensure whoever is responsible is identified and held accountable.”
