Primark is closing all of its 189 UK stores

The coronavirus is continuing to cause chaos across the world, with many high street retailers closing their doors.

This now includes Primark, with all of its 189 UK stores set to close from tonight, the Financial Times reports.

They will shut their doors from tonight, Sunday March 22nd, and have already cancelled all new supplier orders.

According to reports, Associated British Foods – the conglomerate that owns Primark – plans to shut all UK stores for the foreseeable future.

The budget fashion retailer has already closed its other 187 stores across Europe and the US over the past few days. 

All new clothing orders have been cancelled from their suppliers in India and Bangladesh, but reportedly any order already shipped or delivered will continue to be honoured.

Primark isn’t the only big retailer to close, with Ikea announcing this week that it was shutting all of its UK and Ireland stores from Friday evening, March 20th.

And New Look has also taken a hit from the virus, closing every single one of its shops across the UK until further notice.
