Queen ‘under medical supervision’ after doctors became concerned for her health

The Queen is under medical supervision at Balmoral after doctors became concerned for her health, Buckingham Palace has announced.

In a statement, the palace said: “Following further evaluation this morning, The Queen’s doctors are concerned for Her Majesty’s health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision.

“The Queen remains comfortable and at Balmoral.”

Prince Charles, Camilla and Prince William are currently travelling to Balmoral, Clarence House and Kensington Palace said. 

Her Majesty was forced to postpone her Privy Council meeting last night after being advised by doctors to rest.

Immediate family members have been told of the doctor’s decision, Sky News reports. They are said to be ‘very keen’ for there to be no further speculation amid suggestions the Queen had suffered a fall, which are believed to be incorrect. 

Lizz Truss, who has just unveiled her energy plan, said the whole country would be ‘deeply concerned’ by the news, adding her thoughts were with the monarch and her family.

The new PM wrote on Twitter: “The whole country will be deeply concerned by the news from Buckingham Palace this lunchtime.

“My thoughts – and the thoughts of people across our United Kingdom – are with Her Majesty The Queen and her family at this time.”

Commons Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle interrupted Truss’s energy announcement in the House of Commons to update MPs about the Queen’s health.

He said: “I know I speak on behalf of the entire House when I say that we send our best wishes to Her Majesty the Queen and that she and the royal family are in our thoughts and prayers at this moment.”

He added: “If there is anything else, we will update the House accordingly.”
