The 13 areas of Greater Manchester which have almost no Covid-19 cases

Covid-19 rates have dropped to almost zero in a number of areas in Greater Manchester.

A number of neighbourhoods in the Greater Manchester region are almost Covid free according to the Government’s coronavirus map, after weeks of falling rates.

The University North and Whitworth Street areas, which once were a hotspots, had the lowest rate in the city last week.

And cases have dropped to less than three in 13 areas of Greater Manchester.

The areas with fewer than three or no cases recorded in the week ending December 3rd include:

 
  • Pendleton, Salford 
  • Walkden North West, Salford 
  • University North and Whitworth Street, Manchester
  • Denton North, Tameside
  • Dukinfield East and Hough Hill, Tameside
  • Royton South West, Oldham
  • Urmston East, Trafford
  • Ashton upon Mersey North
  • Cheadle Heath, Stockport
  • Bramhall North East
  • Bramhall South and Woodford
  • Poynton West
  • Offerton East and Bosden Farm, Stockport

Of those Royton South West in Oldham has seen the biggest decrease, from having an infection rate of 1,279.3 in the week ending October 29th.

Pendleton had an infection rate 665.7 per 100,000 people in the week ending October 22nd, roughly around the peak of the second wave of Covid-19.

Denton North’s rate peaked on October 22nd with 556.8 cases per 100,00, as did Dukinfield East and Hough Hill with 555.9 cases per 100,000 people.
