Ticketmaster may require either proof you’ve taken the coronavirus vaccine or a negative test as a requirement for entry when live events return.

The events and ticketing company is considering plans to make this mandatory as part of its proposals for audience safety post-pandemic, according to reports.

This would mean anyone wanting to go to a gig or live sporting event would need either a negative test within a window of 24 to 72 hours before the event or proof of vaccination.

Ticketmaster has been working on a plan which will allow concerts and other events to return safely, with Billboard reporting that the company will use mobile phones to identify whether people meet either of the two criteria.

According to Billboard these plans are still in development, but if approved they would mean that after buying a ticket you would have to verify that you don’t have Covid-19, and anyone who can’t prove that would be refused entry.

Ticketmaster reportedly wouldn’t have access to the medical records of anyone who buys a ticket, and would only receive verification on whether customers have been cleared to attend any event.

Ticketmaster’s president Mark Yovitch told Billboard: “We’re already seeing many third-party health care providers prepare to handle the vetting, whether that is getting a vaccine, taking a test, or other methods of review and approval, which could then be linked via a digital ticket so everyone entering the event is verified.”

News broke this week that the pharmaceutical company Pfizer saw 90% effectiveness from initial results of its new coronavirus vaccine.

This has led to renewed hopes that live events may return next year at some point, giving music and sports fans a ray of light.
