The region was absolutely battered by Storm Ciara last weekend, and forecasters are warning there’s still more bad weather to come.

A lot of property was damaged by the 80mph winds and torrential rain, and from flood damage to broken fences the people of Greater Manchester were left with a big bill for repairs.

Two tradesmen from Denton, however, are helping elderly people who’ve been affected by the storm free of charge.

Adam O’Carroll and Tom Doherty run T&A Resin, and have generously gone out of their way to help vulnerable people in their area whose property has been damaged.

The pair shared a Facebook post offering to fix elderly residents’ fences for free, and they were inundated with requests as local people responded to the brilliant gesture.

They wrote on Sunday evening: “After today’s dreadful weather, if anyone knows someone elderly who’s fences have blew down and can’t fix themselves, please give us a ring and we will be happy to come out and put the panels back in FREE OF CHARGE.

“Please could everyone share the post as there could be someone left worried as there garden isn’t secure! Only if you are in a reasonable distance to ourselves we will aim to get round tomorrow, if not Tuesday before dinner. Thanks, Tom & Adam.”

And the lads were busy, posting an update on Monday night saying: “A long day of fixing fences today! Twice as much to do tomorrow. Here’s a few we managed to fix after the terrible weather. Didn’t manage to get many photos as we had plenty to get through.”

People were quick to praise the pair, with Moe Clark saying: “What a lovely thing to do. I’m a pensioner living on my own and my fence has blown down. Knowing there’s people like you restores my faith in humanity”.

Jean Mahon added: “What kind people you are, you deserve medals. Pity you not in our area but need new panels now thanks to the gales yesterday. God bless and well done.”

Well done lads, keep up the good work!
