Walkers has announced it is to launch a string of crisp butty shops across the UK.
There’s just something so satisfying about sneaking a few crisps into your sandwich. As you chomp into the carb-filled delight, that extra crunch and flavour just makes it taste so much better — the ultimate combination.
Well here’s some great news for those who love to sneak a few crisps in their butty… Crisp giant Walkers has announced it will partner with a selection of (currently unknown) sandwich shops, on June 12th, in an effort to encourage the nation to get more creative with their crisp sandwich combos.
The butties will be located at selected sandwich shops for one week only and will feature a menu full of crisp sarnie creations with regionally inspired offerings at each venue.
The chosen venues will serve up the very best loaded crunchy sandwiches created in collaboration with Max Halley, the guru behind the famous London sandwich shop Max’s.
Between those beautiful slices of bread will not only be traditional Walkers crisps but also the likes of Quavers, Wotsits and Monster Munch — carb on carb heaven!
Highlights will include Max Halley’s ‘Mighty Monster Muncher’ — a Monster Munch-filled fish finger sandwich, with cabbage, chipotle mayonnaise and Pico De Gallo on home-baked Focaccia.
According to the snack brand’s research, 98% of UK adults believe that crisps make sandwiches better – so it’s clear the collaborations will have widespread appeal.
Philippa Pennington at Walkers said: “Last year the residents of Sandwich voted ‘Crisp In’ as the winning combination, but this year we’re widening the debate to showcase the wide range of crisp and sandwich combinations — from classic Walkers crisps through to Wotsits and Monster Munch.
“With Walkers Sandwich Shops located across the UK, we’re calling on people to head to their nearest shop, taste the sandwiches and have their say online by sharing their favourite combination from the menu, or favourite crisps to enjoy in a sandwich.”
The decision follows two years of Wakers having a playful #Crisp In or #Crisp Out debate about how the iconic crisps and sandwich duo should be eaten — inside the sandwich, or on the side.
