Aldi has launched energy-saving draught excluders starting at just £1.99, which experts reckon could save you £20 a year.

It’s officially arctic these days and if, like me, you’d rather work from home in three jumpers, a blanket and a hot water bottle than put your heating on – this handy contraption might just be the thing for you.

The bargain supermarket is stocking up with six different types of draught excluder that should drastically reduce the amount of heat escaping your home.

In fact, The Energy Saving Trust reckon draught excluders can shave up to £20 off your energy bills based on a semi-detached house in England, Scotland or Wales.

Stephen Murray, energy expert at MoneySuperMarket said: “As we become more reliant on our heating systems, particularly while so many of us are working from home during the pandemic, it is more important than ever to think about how you can save money on your energy bills.

“Simple home improvements such as adding a draught excluder for a couple of quid can really add up to a decent saving over a year.”

Depending on where you’d like to put your draught excluder will denote which one you need and what size.

If you want to close the gap between floor and doors, which Uswith.com say is ‘one of the best ways you can draught-proof your home’, opt for a brush or hinged flap draught excluder.

Aldi’s double-sided foam draught excluder can be slipped on the bottom of any indoor door and it doesn’t even need adhesive to stay in play.

It measures 95cm x 10cm x 2.5cm or you can opt for the PVC version which has a brush along the floor which will close gaps of up to 20mm between door and floor.

Aldi is also selling a 15mm felt version of the PVC draught excluder.

The supermarket is also selling a transparent draught excluder which can be cut down to whatever size you need – which will be best if you have any awkward gaps to fill.

Finally, Aldi is also offering two white ‘P’ and ‘E’ profile draught excluders which fit to the edges of your window.

The letters refer to the shape and size of the tape, ‘P’ is for gaps around 3-5mm while ‘E’ is for 2-3.5mm.

Each product is just £1.99 making it some of the cheapest options on the market.
