Marmite Houmous is now a thing and it’s definitely dividing opinions.
The devil works hard but Marmite has been working harder. This year we’ve already had Marmite peanut butter and Marmite cheese. There was also that Marmite X Lynx creation which I can only assume ended with a couple of people being fired.
Back in March, when we were just a day into lockdown, Marmite replied to a tweet by a fan asking their followers for thoughts on a ‘Marmite and houmous’ flavour combo.
Now Marmite Houmous is an official thing available exclusively at Tesco stores and online.
The dip has a bit of a spicy kick to it and is described as ‘cooked chickpeas with Marmite®, tahini sesame seed paste, lemon juice from concentrate and garlic purée’.
Safe to say there’s been a bit of a mixed reaction on social media. One user wrote ‘my life is now complete’ while another wrote ‘this could be disgusting’ and another was really unimpressed stating they were ‘so disappointed’ in Marmite for even creating it.
A tub of the stuff will set you back just £1.50 a pack. Be warned though, despite houmous and Marmite being famously vegan, Marmite Houmous contains cows milk. It is suitable for vegetarians though.
Do you love it or hate it?
