This beautiful hotel in Greece offers a ‘Maldives experience’ to guests on the Mediterranean at just a fraction of the price.
If you’ve ever so much as logged onto the internet you’ll have seen the gorgeous images of the Maldives, with the crystal clear water and a maze of floating bungalows.
What comes with that beauty is a hefty price tag that can take years and years to save up for.
But tucked away in Crete is an amazing hotel that offers a very similar experience to the popular travelling spot for just a fraction of the price.
Stella Island Resort is an adults only hotel with 225 rooms in over-water bungalows that look just like the floating paradise of the Maldives.
There’s a giant pool, stylish decks and even a private beach on Crete’s northern coast, where guests can sit back and relax.
The resort also has five restaurants to choose from and a spa that offers massages, manicures, pedicures and facials.
For the real tropical experience, you can scuba dive or sail in the area too.
The bungalows cost around £490 a night which is still a high price, but much, much cheaper than the villas in the Maldives which can costs thousands a night.
Guests who’ve already stayed at the resort have given it rave reviews with a five-star rating on TripAdvisor.
One happy visitor said: “A Maldives experience in the Mediterranean sea.
“Although built 100 meters from the sea, the architects managed to convince us that we were living on a Maldives island – in the ocean, sleeping on the surface of blue clean water.”
Another added: “Well I really don’t know where to start! This is a real slice of paradise.”
There are currently no restrictions in place for Brits travelling to Greece, however restrictions can change at any point, the government warns.
