An Asda delivery driver has received viral recognition for his response to finding an elderly customer sitting alone in the dark.
Home shopping driver Michael turned up to an address in Hartlepool with a delivery last week, only to find a the occupier to be completely alone and stuck in the dark.
The ninety-year-old woman told Michael that her bulbs had died, adding that she couldn’t physically change them herself thanks to mobility issues.
Here, kind-hearted Michael decided to step in and change the lightbulbs for her, an act that has since gained him viral fame.
Asda shared Michael’s selfless act onto their Twitter page, writing: “When Michael from our Hartlepool store turned up to deliver groceries to a 90-year-old customer he discovered she was sat in the dark as her lightbulbs had died.
“The lady, who struggles with her mobility, couldn’t change the bulbs herself, so Michael stepped in and changed them.”
The post proved to be a huge hit on social media, with numerous people commenting to praise Michael on his kind initiative.
One social media user wrote: “This [sic] is the type of people that we need in society. Well done Michael!”.

Store manager Emma, who later nominated Michael for an Asda service superstar award, addeD: “We are all so proud of Michael for not only carrying in the lady’s shopping, but changing the lightbulbs for her too.
“It was just a small thing but the lady was incredibly grateful, having been sat in the dark.
“Michael is an all-round good guy who is very kind and who will do anything to help his customers.”
