Asda has announced that emergency service workers will be getting a special discount on their shopping in all of its stores throughout the festive period.
The retailer is offering a 10% discount for anyone who holds a Blue Light Card, a nationally-recognised scheme giving discounts to certain key workers and armed forces personnel.
The 10% discount can be used in any of Asda’s 633 stores across the UK from today until Sunday, January 2nd, and is applicable on all food and drink, George at Asda clothing, optical and homeware, as well as toys and gifts.
Asda said the discount has been launched as recognition of the valued work emergency service workers do each day to keep the public safe.
Speaking on the launch of the discount, Derek Lawlor, Chief Merchandising Officer at Asda, said: “Blue Light cardholders work in difficult and dangerous situations every day of the year to provide support to people across the UK who need it the most [and] we wanted to recognise this and thank them for everything they do by offering a discount in our stores this Christmas.
“We really want to say thank you to our members for doing everything they can to help protect the most vulnerable this year, and every year.”
