In a quite literally unbelievable claim, the Happy Mondays frontman Shaun Ryder recently revealed that Bez once turned down an evening with Hollywood star, Julia Roberts.
The music icon told the ridiculous tale during an appearance on ITV’s This Morning earlier in the week.
Speaking to hosts Philip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, Ryder relayed the tale of a wild night the pair had in the famous LA nightclub, The Viper Room, which was known at the time for its abundance of A-list guests.
He explained that they were in LA when Pretty Woman had ‘only just come out’ in 1990, so the actress ‘wasn’t the Julia Roberts who everyone knows now.’

During their night out, Bez allegedly came over to Ryder and, having mistaken her name, asked: ‘You heard of Julia Joggerts? She’s just asked me to go to her place.’
“And he didn’t have a clue who she was, but she sent her bodyguard over, Evil. Her bodyguard’s name was something like Evil,” Ryder explained.
The name of her bodyguard wasn’t even though most outrageous part of the story, either.
According to Ryder, Bez turned down her very generous invitation because ‘he had other options’ and had ‘never heard of her.’
“He had about four other girls on the go in the club anyway.” Sorry, Julia.
Quite understandably sceptical of the outlandish tale, Holly then asked Ryder: “So he turned down Julia Roberts?” to which he simply raised his eyebrows and nodded.
And how does Bez feel about the situation now? Well, Ryder added: “It’s Bez innit, he wasn’t really bothered.”
