Westlife star Brian McFadden has revealed the ‘horrific’ allergic reaction he suffered following a bee sting.

The singer, forty-two, looked unrecognisable in a string on social media posts, where he showcased his severely swollen face, eyelids, lips and tongue.

Luckily, Brian seemed to be in good spirits despite his unfortunate situation, with him jokingly attempting to sing LMFAO’s ‘I’m Sexy and I Know It’.

He also joked alongside his first video: “Stung by a bee and got an allergic reaction!! Owning that look! Free Botox and fillers!!!!!”.

A couple of hours later, he shared a series of photos documenting the progression of his reaction following the sting, showing how quickly his condition deteriorated.

He wrote: ‘The time line of the sting to reaction. Still goin.'”

Fans couldn’t believe the severity of Brian’s condition, with many rushing to express their shock and send their best wishes.

One person commented: “Oh my god Brian! I’m gonna [sic] bloody hunt that bee down! Get well soon”, while another in a similar situation wrote: “Bee sting? Yea I’m exactly the same! Bloody painful. It will go down in a few days just keep taking the antihistamines. Not pleasant at all.”

While bee stings are relatively harmless and cause only mild symptoms to most, people with allergies can to go into anaphylactic shock, which requires urgent medical treatment.

Symptoms of anaphylaxis include:

  • Severe swelling.
  • Hives or itching.
  • Dizziness.
  • Nausea and vomiting.
  • Stomach cramps.
  • A sudden drop in blood pressure.
