David Beckham has been spotted queueing to visit the Queen laying in state after joining the line at 2am this morning.

The football legend joined other royalists in the early hours to pay his respects to the late Queen Elizabeth, whose coffin is lying in state ahead of her funeral on Monday, September 19th.

He starting queuing at 2am this morning ‘thinking it would be quiet’, and has even been buying people near to him in the queue doughnuts, according to reports.

He eventually made it to Westminster Hall at around 3:15pm, thirteen hours after initially joining the queue.

Beckham spoke to ITV News while he was waiting in the queue, where he revealed he was attending ‘on behalf of his family’.

He said: “It is special to be here to celebrate and to hear the different stories, what people have to say.

“I grew up in household of royalists and I was brought up that way. If my grandparents would have been here today I know that they would have wanted to be here.

“So I am here on there behalf and on behalf of my family and obviously to celebrate with everyone else.”

He added: “I was so lucky I was able to have a few moments in my life to be around Her Majesty.

“It’s a sad day but it’s a day to remember the incredible legacy she left.”

Royalists queuing to see the Queen’s coffin were quick to take selfies with the footballer as they waited, while others took to Twitter to praise Beckham for ‘joining the queue just like the rest of us’.

One person wrote: “David Beckham in the queue with us… fair play for queueing with the rest of us!”, while another commented: “Much admiration for David Beckham standing for hours in the queue to pay respect to our Queen. Shame a few more celebrities couldn’t get out with the common people.”
