Dog owners planning on spending their summer on the beach may want to think again thanks to a number of new rules in place across certain North West locations.
As many popular beach attractions across the country prepare for an increase in visitors, a seasonal ban on dogs has now come into affect and will stay in place until the end of the summer on September 30th.
One of the main reasons dogs are banned from beaches during peak season is due to the amount of dog faeces left behind by neglegant owners.
This kind of litter becomes a health hazard and can eventually affect water quality.

If dog owners are found to be walking their pets on the beaches imposing this new rule, they could face on-the-spot fines as high as £1,000.
The bans are going to be in place on beaches across the North West, the North East, and Yorkshire.
Here are all the beaches implementing the seasonal dog ban:
Blackpool
Dogs will be prohibited on the beach between North Pier and the Mirror Ball opposite the Solaris Centre.
They will be permitted on the promenade between the North and South Piers, but must be kept on a lead at all times.

Fleetwood Beach
Fleetwood Beach’s east side – on the slipway eastward to the west side of the former pier -will also be implementing the seasonal dog ban.
Cleveleys Beach
The seasonal dog ban will also be in effect in Cleveleys Beach all the way from Cage Clove to Wyre Borough Boundary.
Southport Beach
The ban will be in effect starting from the Pier south towards Pleasureland (for 555m) and to the title line.

Ainsdale Beach
Ainsdale beach will not permit dogs 200m on either side of the main beach entrance and to the tide line.
And it isn’t just these North West beaches implementing the dog ban; a number of beaches in the North East have also banned dogs. These include Sunderland, Northumberland, County Durham and Hartlepool.
A number of Yorkshire beaches have also imposed the new rule; these include Bridlington, Scarborough North Bay, Whitby and Hornsea.
