An ice cream man filmed the ‘amazing’ moment Man City striker Erling Haaland boarded his van and served himself a sundae.
The ‘incredible human meat shield’ was dressed in gold designer pyjamas while he was out celebrating his team’s historic treble, when he spotted the ice cream van and decided he’d stop for some dessert.
Owner, Ejaz Azam, was completely stunned to see the striker knock on the window of his van but said it was his ‘favourite moment ever’ and was only too happy to welcome Haaland onboard.
The City striker said it was ‘incredible’ to get to whip-up his own ice cream.
Mr Azam, 36, from Oldham, said he was ‘so shocked’ after getting to meet the Scandinavian forward while he was parked close to Mayfield Depot near Manchester’s Piccadilly rail station.
“Haaland asked to come in the van and then we served slush to people. It was my favourite moment ever,” he told the BBC.
The ice cream man said his patch is usually in Chadderton but he had ventured into town on the day of City’s open-top bus parade through Manchester on Monday.
“I had actually finished a 14-hour shift,” he said.
Mr Azam said the 22-year-old had initially asked for a blue slush before stepping onto his van and getting stuck in.
“It’s everyone’s dream to come into a van and Haaland was so happy,” Mr Azam continued.
“He kept saying it was incredible. Then people starting queuing outside asking for ice cream, so he helped serve some slush. I was so shocked, surprised and amazed.”
The surprise appearance comes just weeks after Haaland was also spotted cooking his own steaks at a swanky Manchester city centre restaurant.
The striker, dressed in blue silk pyjamas, attended a team celebration party after the Blues won the Premier League for a third season in a row.
He was pictured cooking up a storm alongside chefs at MNKY HSE’s basement bar and restaurant for the party on Sunday, May 21st, after beating Chelsea 1- 0 at the Etihad Stadium that afternoon.
The Norwegian goal-scorer recently became the first player to win both the Premier League’s player of the year and young player of the year awards in the same season.
Keep your eyes peeled for more potential surprise appearances around town from the City player!
