Ex-McDonald’s employee shares ‘secrets’ she learned on job including about the milkshake machine

An ex-McDonald’s employee has shared secrets of the fast-food chain on TikTok, including revealing that the milkshake machine probably isn’t broken…

Taking to TikTok, Dessy Joseph has shared tricks of the trade after working at McDonald’s over the years. 

She gives people hints on how to get the best out of your experience at McDonald’s, including how to get fresher food.

For instance, if you make customisations to your order like ‘added cheese’, your burger will be made fresh so they can add an additional slice. 

Dessy has over 560,000 followers on TikTok and has now shared 23 videos of tricks for Maccies lovers.

Another includes avoiding the ‘lunch hour rush’ where items tend to be pre-made for fresher food. She said: “During the lunch rush we would make a certain amount of food that were popular items and leave them on the belt – it was heated so you couldn’t really tell if your food had been left on the belt.

“Which is where customisations come in, to make sure you don’t get food that’s been sitting on the belt.”

She also confirmed that the legendary ‘secret menu’ is actually real. Dessy explains you can order ‘an Oreo McFlurry with caramel sauce’ or a ‘neapolitan shake’ which will include chocolate, strawberry and caramel in one cup. 

And it turns out, the milkshake machine probably isn’t actually broken.

Dessy revealed that colleagues often lie about the machine being broken to avoid replacing the massive and heavy bag of shake mix.

She even said that in the McDonald’s store she worked in the machine wouldn’t be cleaned very often, and would frequently have bugs inside. 

She claimed: “Dead flies and dirt collect at the top of the ice cream machine, so if you slide the top off without wiping it first, all those little buggies go in the ice cream mix.”

The Mirror also shared some secret menu items shared by another ex McDonald’s employee. 

They include ‘Angus Fries’ which are unsalted fries with Angus beef seasoning from the grill. There’s also ‘Strawberry Sprite’ which mixes Sprite post-mix with four squirts of Strawberry Thickshake Syrup.

You could also get ‘Mega MAC’ which builds a big Mac with quarter pounder meat and buns and an extra slice of cheese.

And there’s even ‘McMuffin Pizzas’ using grilled muffin halves with sauce, cheese and ‘toppings’.
