I’m sure at some point you’ve all had a job you absolutely hated, the kind where you wake up in the morning working out how you’re going to endure another day of it. You probably daydreamed about sending your boss an email, text or letter, letting them know exactly how you feel about them… before deleting the message and just getting on with it. One person who didn’t just get on with it was Lisa Bell, and she decided to take action about her situation.

Lisa was a cleaner for a hotel in Blackpool and she managed to quit her job in style, sending her bosses a ‘sorry for your loss’ card announcing her resignation. The 40-year-old was working at the Lyndene Hotel in the seaside town, where she says she was treated terribly.
According to Lisa, despite being on their feet for an entire six hour shift, cleaners were banned from sitting down during their breaks and from having a drink while working.

After finally saying enough is enough, the cleaner found the cheapest sympathy card available and sent it to her bosses as her notice of resignation.
Lisa wrote: “Dear [name of employers], As you may have noticed I’m not in work today. This is because you are arseholes to work for so I have got a new job. I was planning on giving you a week’s notice but whilst I was on my unpaid break, [employer 1] radioed [employer 2] to come tell me not to sit down on my break. Why not grow some balls and tell me yourself?”

She didn’t stop there, adding: “Because that would mean you getting off your arse and leaving the office! I hate the fact that even whilst on my unpaid break [you are] sat in his office spying on me. Maybe if you two worked constantly, on your feet for six hours you also would like to be able to sit down for ten mins!” Lisa signed it off in polite fashion, informing them that Karan is also leaving: “Regards, Lisa Bell. P.s Karan quits too, you’ve treated her even worse… we’re off to work together.” Lisa, we salute you…
